Sunday March 22 09.00-13.00

The photographic image, never before now, requires (re) thinking about what we want to do or what we wanted to do. We descended along the current, navigated the river at great speed and now we are realizing, looking up from technology, that the landscape has escaped us, that we have missed the journey, that we have come far , but perhaps we do not know where. We are following an epochal mutation of the meaning and language of photography. Urge a compass and a map. At least an instruction booklet. Perhaps we need to regain an awareness, which now seems impalpable, dusting off themes that were dear to the Renaissance, to Humanism, to the Enlightenment. A real mental revolution today. Man will have to reposition himself in the center and decide what to do, how to make it happen, why and how. And only then will it be possible to choose with certainty the most suitable means for the a priori stability purpose. Therefore be AUTHOR. To do this, we need to stop and ask ourselves some questions: Who I am and who I was. Where I started and where I want to go. Will it be true that an image can be worth a thousand words? And if true, what are these words?

Sunday March 22 09.00-13.00

"During my presentation I would like to touch on the highlights of my photographic journey, recounting lighter events such as the Holi Festival or the more dramatic ones like the migrant issue, passing through the least known festivals in the world, a small step on my wedding photography and conclude with a report made in Campania on Pizza!" Sunday March 22 09.00-13.00

We choose to be photographers driven by the need to talk about ourselves, to speak a language that describes us. We often talk about the "passion" for what we do, but often we are the first to be "subdued" by the customers because we love our work so much that we overcome certain lack of respect. We love our job and spend most of our lives doing what the customer wants, leaving out what we would like to do, the reason why we chose to be photographers. I'd like to talk about the importance of bringing respect to your photography, dedicating time to our personal projects, thus also taking care of your branding. Only in this way can we grow and be satisfied with what we do, without bending too much to the customer's needs, indeed, enriching the work that is delivered. I will quickly talk about my path, from wedding photography to lifestyle photography up to fashion and portrait photography, with particular attention to personal projects.

By Piero Gemelli

Sunday March 22 09.00-13.00

Gemelli, in a dialogue with Maria Vittoria Baravelli, art curator, marked by the flow of images of his work, telling his work experience, he will dwell on the main stages of his career, without failing to address the questions and contradictions that the philosophy of the image places in the era of the contemporary. The thought of Gemelli on photography revolves around the eternal - who knows if unbridgeable - distance between truth and fiction, with photography playing the role of narrative instrument always poised between immediacy, truth and artifice. Gemelli ironizes on his surname Gemelli / doppio, and on his dual soul and that of the photographer, who always finds himself constantly in the balance between "feeling" and telling the truth as it appears, as it manifests itself, and "lying" recreating a falsehood that tells the real truth even more true.

Maria Vittoria Baravelli, Art Sharer / Photography Curator. Member of the Board of the MAR - Art Museum of the city of Ravenna. She wrote for Il Corriere della Sera, LensCulture, Exibart and other cultural publications. She interviewed artists and photographers, like Liu Bolin, David Bailey, Peter Lindbergh, David La Chapelle and Gian Paolo Barbieri.

“Challenge to create a beautiful world without using CG or composition” In the world of modern photography, CG and composition are fundamental tools, and works are created with the premise that they will be used. Such works using these techniques are evaluated in many competitions. This practice is natural and fundamental in modern photography. I continue to challenge this common practice. I shoot what is there in front of us. Instead of digitally shaping the “imagination” in your head, you “create” the worldview you “imagined” in your head in the real world. This is my challenge to photography. Except for special categories (CG-based, etc.), “don’t use composition or CG, decorate with flowers using only fresh flowers, shoot what is actually in front of us, aim for a photo, not a picture”. These are my rules. I will show the production process of these works, and the works’ meaning, with videos.

I will give you answers to these questions and I will share much much more with you. Come and see me in WPC 2020 in Rome. See you on March the 23rd at the Studio Orizzonte Gallery
